The Youth Week festival which is held annually in Kranj is complete with youthful colours. This festival which attracts thousands of young people to the Gorenjska capital, offers a wide range of activities:
- International content.
The diverse program schedule includes over 100 events.
The likelihood of Youth Week’s longevity was underscored in 1995 when the legendary punk band “KUD Idijoti” performed in the rain at Khislstein Castle.
The Student Club Kranj, which had existed in socialist times, in a somewhat different look, has awoken again after seven years. After 19-years, Youth Week has become a traditional May event, from its initial few stalls and small concerts to a big Slovenian Youth Festival.
From its beginning Youth Week has been built by volunteers who worked in a collegial fashion with solidarity. Although the youthful energy never withers in the streets of Kranj during the nine-day festival, the most people are attracted by the evening music program. Youth Week has hosted some world-class musicians, but it is also an opportunity for less known musicians to make a name for themselves.
